On September 27th, Jason Criscuolo was struck by a car while crossing Route 17 by his school - Ramapo College. The tragic accident had left Jay in critical condition and it was only with the help of local police officers and emergency room doctors that saved his life. Unfortunately, the accident severly traumatized his legs and in order to save his life - doctors had to amputate Jay's lower left leg. Matt Lombardo - a Mahwah police officer, was the key player in saving Jay's life. Our family is forever grateful.

Currently, Jay is a key member of the Ramapo College baseball team as well as a former star athlete at St. Rose High School in Belmar, New Jersey. He is also an avid surfer and snowboarder. Although he has excelled in athletics, this excellence only captures a fraction of the wonderful and gifted person Jay is. His personality and sense of humor are infectious and his light heartedness and supportive nature has positively affected so many.

Throughout his life, he has embodied what it means to be a great son, caring younger brother, excellent student-athlete and supportive teammate. He has been there for so many; and now we would like to be there for him.
In order to continue doing all of the things that help define part of his life - baseball, athletics, outdoor activities - Jay requires continual healthcare and will need advanced prosthetics. According to ABC news, one prosthetic can cost anywhere from $5,000-50,000 and each one is only built to withstand 3-5 years. Our fundraising goal will only begin to cover his lifetime need of prosthetics.
Although he has faced significant obstacles before, it has been said that it would be a miracle for Jay to continue with his old life. But, knowing Jay - with our support - he will "Be The Miracle." Let us help Jay live a life that is not defined by this tragic event but a life that is strengthened by it.
Also I wanted to give a huge thank you to Steve Johnson, The Maverick's baseball team, Ramapo College, St. Rose High School, and family&friends for all of your support during this time.
