The two pillars of the Haitian Society are church and school. There are very few primary or secondary schools that are not associated with a church. Although our aim in BASSA is to improve education in our communities, we do recognize the vital role that the church played in our education system. Pastor Jeudiüs Altidor is the Pastor and Headmaster of Bethel Baptist Church and Bethel Academy. He started the school in 1982, and in 1988 the school start sending kids to perform in the 6th-grade national exam. now the school has elementary until Philo (last grade of high school). He started constructing the church years ago with the means that he had. In 2020, he finally started to build the church with concrete bricks. Unfortunately, in 2021, the August 14th Earthquake that ravaged the southern departments of Haiti destroyed both Bethel Academy and Bethel Baptist Church. BASSA met Pastor Altidor during our work in the area. The Pastor has been serving the Community of Saint-Louis Du Sud for 40 years. His school and church have become a landmark in the community. Pastor Altidor has been blessed with support from other organizations, although, other institutional means would not suffice. We asked you to help us help Pastor Altidor rebuild our community.
