Bethany Land Institute Internship: Nicole Kallsen

Hello Friend!
I hope this letter finds you well. I hope to speak with you sometime soon There is an amazing opportunity coming up this summer that I need to talk to you about. So far, God has taken me from Michigan, to Utah, and now North Carolina. This summer, God is taking me to Uganda! I get to see how He works in the global church by interning with the Bethany Land Institute (BLI)! I will learn about sustainable farming and God’s care for the environment alongside Ugandan students.
Why am I going to Uganda, to work on a farm? That doesn’t sound much like researching dance and Christianity… Well, halfway through my program at Duke Divinity, I realized that I needed to see how is God working in His global church. If I want to do research on dance and Christian embodiment, I need to be open to how God’s Spirit is moving in communities far different from my own. You can learn more about the Bethany Land Institute and their ministry here: https://bethanylandinstitute.org/
I am writing to see if you would be willing to partner with me as I learn about the How God is working through His Church in Uganda.
One way to partner is to pray for the Bethany Land Institute and my time there. I hope to keep my prayer team updated both during and after the internship. While at BLI, I hope to post on my Ugandan Facebook group weekly. In the case that I do not have access to WIFI, I plan to write weekly reflections on my work and new learnings. After my trip, I will post them on my Facebook group. Would you pray for BLI and me?

Another way to partner is through financial support. My goal is to raise $4,100. Will you prayerfully support with a one-time gift? As this is an educational internship, unfortunately the financial gifts are not tax-deductible. You can support with this GoFundMe, or with Venmo (@NicoleKallsen), a check to my personal mailing address (let’s call first so I'm not posting this online), or you can purchase some items from my anticipated needs registry from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/6NOVDO6NIDKZ
Thank you for your prayers around this upcoming internship. I leave for my internship on May 15th and return to the states on July 31st. I hope to return to the US astounded by God’s abundance and mercies as witnessed by BLI.
Finally, I would love to chat in person or on Zoom about this internship. Please, reach out and let's schedule a time :)
Grace and Peace,
