Hello!
As many of you know, I have dedicated a lot of time, passion, and energy the past few years to making sure there are more women in office in Austin. In 2016, I was one of the organizers for the Women’s March on Austin and since then I have worked with women candidates running for office, and have been successful in two races. Many of you reading this have also asked when I will run for office.
To learn how to better support candidates from underrepresented groups, and to learn what my place is in making the government more accessible to all, I applied and was accepted to the LBJ Women’s Campaign School! This program supports aspiring campaign managers and candidates. As a part of our education, we have been asked to fundraise our tuition and incidental costs that arise (parking, meals, etc).
I have done a lot of scrappy, on the ground, self training the past 4 years and I am excited to formalize what I have learned so far so I can keep fighting the good fight. I work on campaigns on the side and have not had the chance to really learn in depth about all aspects of a campaign. I am excited to turn what I have picked up into a more comprehensive strategy for candidates in the future.
The course is 7 online sessions, and (hopefully) an in person week long training in January with my cohort. I am asking for your financial support to help me learn how to best support candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and see if running for office is in the cards for me. Tuition is due September 3. Donations of any size are helpful, and here is what they can go to:
$25 helps pay for parking for 2 days
$50 helps pay for parking for the week
$75 pays for one online session
$100 pays for meals and other incidental costs
$375 pays for the week long session
From the late great Ann Richards, "I did not want my tombstone to read, 'She kept a really clean house. ' I think I'd like them to remember me by saying, 'She opened government to everyone.'"
Thank you for your support!
