Beth & Andrea's Fresh Start Fund

I'm reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea for assistance for my dear friend Beth and her daughter Andrea. Their journey has been one of love, resilience, and unwavering strength, but they now face challenges that require our collective support.

Beth and her late husband Marty opened their hearts and home to Andrea when she was just four years old. Despite the hurdles of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Andrea flourished under their care, embraced by their family alongside their own children, Lorellye and Lucas. But life threw them a curveball when Marty was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2017, followed by a battle with pancreatic cancer that he tragically lost in 2021.

Since then, Beth, now widowed, has valiantly carried the torch for her family. She continued her role as a pastor until 2023 when she returned to teaching. However, financial strain has taken its toll, and the family home, once a sanctuary, now requires extensive repairs that Beth simply cannot afford alone.

Compounding their challenges, Beth has recently developed a tremor condition, now diagnosed as Parkinson’s, that threatens her ability to work and provide for Andrea. Amidst this uncertainty, Beth's steadfast priority is ensuring Andrea's well-being, but the burden of maintaining their home has become overwhelming.

Now, Beth is faced with the difficult decision of selling their beloved home to secure a more manageable living situation for her and Andrea. But the costs of relocation are daunting and your donations will directly support Beth and Andrea in the following ways:

-Moving expenses, including transportation and packing supplies.
-Security deposit for a rental condo to provide a safe and stable living environment.
-Essential living expenses, such as car insurance, groceries, and bills.
-Medical expenses, including future treatments and medications for Beth's to-be-diagnosed condition.

Why am I doing this GoFundMe? My connection to Beth and Marty runs deep, rooted in years of shared memories and unwavering friendship. Marty and my husband were childhood best friends, inseparable as they rode bikes, played in a band together in Marty's garage, and attended church side by side. When Bryant and I married in 1990, Marty stood by my husband's side as one of his best men, cementing our bond as family.

Through my work as a teacher of deaf and hearing-impaired students, I had the privilege of meeting Beth, a fellow deaf educator. Our friendship blossomed, and I introduced her to Marty. Their love story unfolded swiftly, and soon they were married, living just a few blocks from our own home. Over the years, we celebrated life's milestones together, from the joyous births of babies to the tender moments of birthdays and anniversaries.

Now, I stand with Beth and Andrea, determined to help them navigate this next chapter of their lives. Beth cannot shoulder this burden alone, and she needs our community to rally around her in her time of need. As believers, we are called to care for widows and orphans, extending God's love and compassion to those who need it most.

Your generous donations will provide Beth and Andrea with the support they need to start afresh, securing a safe and stable home where they can heal and rebuild. Together, let's honor Marty's memory and show Beth and Andrea that they are not alone in this journey.

Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and generosity.

May 21st Update: Beth had her appointment with a Motor Neurologist Specialist in Houston. She did not receive a definitive diagnosis yet but her symptoms fall under the label of "parkinsonisms". Parkinson's-like symptoms but not Parkinson's.
