Ten years ago, we became best friends. On March 27, I’ll become her kidney donor.
Last January, my best friend’s life changed overnight. At just 25 years old, she went into sudden, full kidney failure. Since then, she has been fighting every single day, spending hours at dialysis three times a week just to stay alive.
Dialysis has kept her going, but it’s not a life. It’s exhausting, painful, and unpredictable. Watching someone you love go through that week after week has been heartbreaking.
I’ve known her for 10 years, and she isn’t just my best friend, she’s family. She’s the godmother to my daughter, the person who has stood beside me through some of the hardest moments of my life. When we found out a transplant might be possible, I immediately started the testing process.
On August 7th, we got the call that changed everything:
I was a direct match. After months of testing, appointments, and waiting, we were finally approved. Our kidney transplant surgery is scheduled for March 27.
This surgery will give her something dialysis never could, a chance to truly live again.
But transplant recovery comes with challenges. She will need to take time away from work and stay in a hotel near the hospital for several weeks while doctors monitor her closely after surgery. Between lost income, medical travel, and temporary housing, the financial stress during recovery is overwhelming.
That’s why I’m asking for help.
This GoFundMe will go directly toward:
• Lost wages while she recovers
• Hotel stay near the transplant hospital
• Transportation and recovery-related expenses
My biggest hope is that during this time she can focus on healing and adjusting to life with a new kidney, not worrying about how she will pay her bills. If you’re able to donate, share, or even just send prayers and encouragement, it would mean the world to both of us. Every bit of support helps lift a little weight off her shoulders during this life-changing moment.
Thank you for helping give my best friend the chance to live a healthier, fuller life.
With love and gratitude
