Best Doctor in the World

Let me introduce you to the greatest doctor I ever met:

Ever since I had asthma as a kid, I’ve been seeing chiropractors and osteopaths. They were the only ones who could help. Some were good, many were not. But Eliyahu Kooby is by far the best healer I know.

He has helped more than 50,000 patients in his 50 years of practice, and is especially beloved by the Jewish Community whom he has served devotedly.

Dr. Kooby has sacrificed his health in order to bring health to others.

For the past 6 years, he has been struggling with heart and kidney failure. In 2012, his condition worsened to the point that his heart functioned at 6%. Hashem blessed him with a miraculous recovery that stunned the doctors. He went back to work, day and night, helping others get healthier.

Much of the work Dr. Kooby did was at little or no charge. He would take care of whoever came to him, whether they could pay or not—including those who had almost lost hope.

He has spent much time flying to El Salvador, a broken, impoverished country, treating children with cancer and cerebral palsy in multiple institutions. These were children of laborers, so Dr. Kooby charged nothing. He would also served the strong but proud Jewish community in San Salvador.

It was during a recent trip to El Salvador that his heart started to give out again.

In March 2018, he was hospitalized again. He came out of the hospital after Passover. He is now working with his doctors to get off dialysis.

Dr Kooby was able to work less and less until he nearly stopped completely a few months ago. The shortness of breath would not allow him to continue. The great news is that his doctors have been amazed at his progress in the past month. The doctors are starting to have hope, whereas before they wrote him off.

But Dr. Kooby is now struggling to pay his living expenses and needs immediate support with basics, such as rent, food, medicine and transportation for dialysis, etc.

One of his patients in LA sent this text to him while he was in the hospital:

"You have been my ROCK in the storm of my life for over 5 years, taken me out of survival mode into the 'create your life' mode. You accompanied me and supported me on that journey, gave me the care that was supportive, and words of encouragement. It has been the single and most important journey of my life. You helped me change the game of my life.”

Dr. Kooby needs our help NOW. The July rent needs to be covered, and he needs to heal without fear of being evicted (G-d forbid).

Dr. Kooby wants to start taking care of people again, as soon as his heart is stronger. He considers this his joy and privilege in life.

Whatever you can give towards Dr. Kooby’s fund, you’re doing a great mitzvah. It’s tzedaka, meaning it’s true justice placed in our hands. He gave to others, now we get to give to him.

Please help me in doing this great mitzvah of tzedakah to save the life of someone for has saved many lives for a half a century!

Sincerely,
