Bert has been my cuddle buddy for over 10 years. I adopted him when he was four, and he just turned 15 a couple weeks ago! I adopted him right before graduating undergrad in Arkansas and moving across Texas for grad school. While he wasn't officially certified, Bert was definitely my emotional support dog during that time. He's been the most important part of making a new city feeling like home as we've moved to Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Illinois since then.

Bert's 15th birthday was such a extraordinary milestone for a dog, especially a pug! Unfortunately, his health has unexpectedly taken a turn. Bert began vomiting on Sunday, and this continued for almost 24 hours. He seemed to have completely bounced back after we went to the vet on Monday and he received fluids and anti-nausea medication. But then, his bloodwork came back and showed critical liver enzyme values. After an ultrasound, the vets determined that Bert's gallbladder is the issue and needs surgery to be removed.

Bert is usually a happy, hungry, and stinky boy with very healthy farts at 15 years old. This surgery will help him get back to begging all his friends for treats and being loved beyond imagination. If you are able, Bert and I are extremely grateful for any support on his road back to cuddling peacefully on the couch.
