Lambert Kneifel (Bert) was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease, at the young age of 16. Doctors said a kidney transplant would be critical to his survival. At the age of 26 he started dialysis. Bert received a kidney March 8, 2013 from Advent Health Transplant Institute in Orlando, FL. He was fortunate enough to have eight and a half years of living a good quality of life. From March of 2013 Bert has created a family, married in 2014 to lovely wife Torrey. They adopted their beautiful angelic daughter Novah in 2017. Bert has always taken pride in staying as healthy and fit as possible. He has even recently quit smoking, to ensure the health of himself and his loved ones.
Unfortunately due to some complications with the kidney, it has lived its lifespan. As of late June, 2021 it eas confirmed that he will need to get another transplant. Bert will need dialysis until he receives the gift of life, the donation of another kidney. He looks forward to receiving his life saving transplant so he can go back to having a fulfilling life and enjoy his time with wife (Torrey) and daughter (Novah).
Bert was deemed disabled at the young age and is unable to work, adding to his financial strain. Once he receives his transplant, Bert must "temporarily relocate" to the city near the transplant center during recovery. This will be for 4 - 6 weeks, accruing substantial expenses. Expenses for travel, food and lodging. Wife (Torrey) will also be out of work with no pay, as she will be assisting as Bert's full-time caregiver after transplant.
A kidney transplant costs approximately 250,000 and that is only the beginning. Even with insurance, Bert faces significant medical expenses related to his transplant for the rest of his life. He will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The cost of post-transplant medications can range from $2,000 to $5,000 per month and they are just as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
The Family has a set goal of $7,000. This will assist in Lodging, travel expenses, food (during travel), house hold needs (bills, childcare, ect.) for after receiving the transplant.
Bert and his family thank YOU for YOUR generosity!
