Bertrand’s 10km run for Ankylosing Spondylitis
Bonjour!
Some of you may know I have an arthritic condition called ankylosing spondylitis. It is a condition that causes inflammation and pain in the joint between the sacrum and the pelvis. It will result in the fusing of the joint at some point in the future. It affects about 1 person in 200.
I have it since I was 15. It is unusually young for such a diagnosis. Some days are good, some days are worse. But overtime, learning to live with the pain, I have realised I had put limitations on what I though I could do.
Ballroom dancing has certainly been a great way to challenge myself. But in my head, running was my nemesis. With the COVID-19 crisis, I started running more often, for longer, and farther.
So I thought this year, for my birthday on December 4th, I am going to attempt to run 10km in under 60min! And raise money in aid of THE NATIONAL ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS SOCIETY. Every donation will help.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
