Bertie’s Endoscopy Operation

Donation protected

We are trying to raise funds for our Doberman Bertie! He needs the correct diagnosis of his horrible illness and help on the road to recovery.

Those who know us, know Bertie has been poorly for a while. It started with a stomach parasite called Giardia which he picked up after arriving in the UK. This caused vomiting and chronic diahhorea for weeks. When finally testing negative for Giardia after several courses of treatment, Bertie’s symptoms stayed with him. He lost 10kg in weight.

Our local vets referred us to a specialist vet in Wakefield called Paragon Referrals. They did extensive tests on Bertie including blood and fecal samples, ultrasounds and biopsy’s. Our specialists advised Bertie may have Inflammatory Bowel Disease and he was put on a vegetarian diet in January to help heal his stomach, both his small and large intestines were severely inflamed. Unfortunately the insurance only covered £4,000 of his treatments and this came to much more.

We are 4 months into his diet and he hasn’t gained much weight. We have chosen to try Prednidale steroids for a couple of weeks but really he needs an Endoscopy (camera down throat and up his bottom) to diagnose his condition or find any other problems, this is £3,000.

Bertie is only 17 months old and has very poor body condition. We want to find the cause and give him the correct treatment to make him live as long as possible ❤️
