Hi, Annie here. About a week ago my 2 1/2 year old shmoodle, Bertie, injured his leg. When we went to the vet I was told he'd torn his ACL in his back leg. He was in obvious pain and was put on pain meds immediately. However, in order to get X rays ro determine just how severe his injury is would cost over $800 and if he needed surgery that is about $3, 000. I heard about conservative treatment for this injury but in order to do that I need to know the severity of the injury and an x ray is the only way to find out. I just don't have that kind of money, being on a disability pension. I have tried several different charities to try to raise the money but was not able to get any help.
As Bertie is only 2 I want to give him every opportunity to have a pain free life with 4 sound legs. Not getting the right treatment for him early enough could result in him being permanently lame or developing severe arthritis or a recurrence of this injury.
Bertie is my best and only companion after I lost my 17 year old cat, Blair and then my 16 year old dog, Rodney, a couple of months apart about 3 years ago. He is such a wonderful little dog. At the moment he's very much missing his dog park and doggy daycare friends, both canine and human. He loves everyone. It will mean so much to me to be able to take him for walks again. Thank you to everyone who is able to donate. I know times are tough for all of us these days.
