On Thursday 3/2 at around 3:30 pm a fire destroyed my apartment building at 220-224 S. Hoover Street. Earlier that day painters had been using blowtorches along the roofline to remove old paint and when I got home the attic was going up in flames. Our unit was the worst hit of the four and I lost almost everything in a home that I loved and planned on being in for a long time. I am so grateful that nobody got hurt and that I’m surrounded by love and community right now. Unfortunately, I did not have renter’s insurance but it would have covered this amount. I need to rebuild my life and am deeply grateful to receive whatever support people can offer to that end.
