I am Bernie Sanders, Service Dog, and I am asking for your financial support today in my mission to be a blood sugar alert dog! Without critical back surgery, I could end up paralysed.
Can you spare a dollar to help?
The big bad private health insurance company looked at my puppy records and said the magic words - PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.
At the same time, this covid business has turned everything around and upside down! My family's special savings account was wiped clean. And everyone in the family started to stay away from my mom. She says she lost her immune system…and I can't seem to find it!
It's hard for a working pup out here. I need your helping hand!
More about us:
My mom needs a lot of extra care and love due to her health conditions, and I am here to give it to her! The pandemic has been very hard for her, since she’s high-risk and can’t have people company - even my dad isn’t allowed to be in the same room as her for long, so more than ever it’s my job to look after her and make her smile. Taking me for walks, where she can also take photos, is the highlight of my mom’s life at the moment. We also foster rescue kittens who need some TLC, so I help look after the tiny cats!
Unfortunately, I am poorly. I have problems with some of the vertebrae in my back, which is very sore and makes it hard to walk - after an episode last week, I couldn’t walk at all for 36 hours. The vet has told mom that if I go without treatment (surgery) much longer I could end up paralysed. Not only will that be bad for me, but I wouldn’t be able to give my mom the care she needs to be safe. The insurance company is being very mean, and won’t pay anything towards my care, as they claim there was evidence on an early x-ray, which no one told my mom about.
Mom nearly had enough money to pay for the surgery before covid hit, but due to the virus, sadly it had to go to everyday expenses to keep our family going. So we are asking if any of you lovely people reading this can contribute anything towards getting me back on my feet and keep me looking after my mom like she deserves. Anything you can spare is deeply appreciated - we know coronavirus has hurt a lot of people, and so any money left over after my surgery will be donated to charities helping people during the pandemic.
Thank you for reading, and we hope you all stay safe and well!
