Support for Bernie Zetchus' Emergency Medical Journey

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out on behalf of my beloved grandpa, Bernie Zetchus.

On Wednesday, August 20th, Bernie was urgently transported by ambulance from Watson, SK to Melfort Hospital, and then quickly transferred to Saskatoon University Hospital for a life-saving procedure. He had to undergo a burr hole surgery—a small hole drilled into his skull to drain excess fluid. Doctors are still working to determine if Bernie suffered a stroke or another serious medical event.

Since then, our family has been making daily trips back and forth, staying in hotels, and doing everything we can to be by his side.

Bernie is someone who lights up every room. He’s spent his life sharing joy through music—performing and singing in Legions, seniors’ homes, and community halls across Canada. He's written songs that have touched many hearts, and he never hesitates to bring a smile to someone’s face.

He’s a proud father of two children of his own, and a loving stepfather to four more. Between them all, he’s also been blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernie has been with my grandma for 22 years and has become a central part of our family’s life and love.

Right now, we are humbly asking for any support—big or small—to help with the costs of travel, lodging, meals, and unforeseen expenses during this difficult time.

Every bit helps and is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for keeping Bernie in your thoughts, and for supporting a man who has spent his life giving so much to others.

With gratitude,
Sarah Miller
