Hi, My name is Rochelle Dean, and I am raising money for my husband, Bernie Dean who needs a Kidney Transplant.
He was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy in 2003. He was on hemodialysis for 2 years and had a Kidney transplant in 2005. His transplanted kidney is now failing because of this disease. He has been on peritoneal dialysis at home now since May of last year, and also on the transplant list since that time. He has gone through 9 surgeries in this same 18 month time frame.
My husband is job attached but can barely work due to his illness. Some days he can put in a couple of hours and maybe do 12-16 hrs per week, but most weeks, he can't work at all. We can not apply for disability as it is based on your last 3 years wages , and because of quarantining from Covid and his renal disease, it won’t pay anything.
When this began, we were a two-income family with no debt except for mortgage and vehicles and a decent savings account. We are now maxed out on credit cards and have wiped out our savings account, and that is with health insurance. We are drowning between house payments, car payments, groceries, insurance, utilities, and just life. If and when they match him with a donor, we are facing having to live somewhere in Seattle for up to 8 weeks with zero income. So, we now have no choice but to reach out and ask for help. If you know us, you know how very hard this is.
Bernie is a strong, brave man with a wonderful caring heart and amazing sense of humor. He is giving and would always be the first person to give you the shirt off his back if you needed help. So please, if you are reading this and you can give anything at all, it would be so appreciated by my husband and myself.
We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
Bernie and Rochelle Dean
