Bernie Badeau was a passionate hockey player, coach and mentor in the Barre area for over 30 years.  He loved his community and loved working with the youth of the Barre to instill the spirit of sportsmanship, team play, and the art of being a good winner.  He wanted every player to know that when a game was won, it was a team effort. He believed losing was where the real lessons were learned, and  he wanted his players to know how much practice as a team they would need to do in order to prepare for a rematch.   From all of his work, he wanted to instill in the players that you cannot win alone and that together, with team play and team spirit comes success.  Bernie passed away on December 7, 2019 at the age of 68.  In honor of his memory, the Bernie Badeau Youth Hockey Memorial Fund has been been established  to support the growth of youth hockey in the Barre area.
