My grandparents, Bernie and Carol, were recently devastated by the Northern California fire. They got out safe but only had time to get themselves and their animals out. We received confirmation today that their home is gone. In fact, there is not a single home left in their neighborhood. The fire burned it all so bad the fire department could not even identify house numbers.
They were able to get their travel trailer attached to their truck but they did not have anything in it. My grandmother has difficulty getting in/out of it, due to health and physical limitations, so the last time they traveled was 1 year ago. They do not have any clothes, shoes, toothbrush, hairbrush, towels, sheets, shampoo, toilet paper, food, cleaning products, etc. They had to leave a car behind and are need for a different car as my grandmother is not able to get in/out of the truck. They need a computer to access online needs. They are having to pay for a place to park the trailer. My grandmother needs a cane, w/c, and ramp built to help her get in/out of her trailer. They will need to rebuild a home. They have continued health needs including medications, my grandmother needs a shoulder replacement surgery. They were saving for health expenses and this is significantly impacting their ability to move forward with their other needs. They have to find new doctors and figure out how/where to go.
Their entire base for living was in paradise which we all know was between 80-90% destroyed. They are having to rebuild their lives right now, and while they are trying to stay positive it is difficult. They were living in their dream retirement home and do not have to means to start from scratch again.
They did not ask me to do this, and they would never ask for money because they know how many people are in need right now. But, as their grand-daughter I can't sit back and watch them struggle and further impact their health. Our family is giving them as much as we can but we need more help. They are believers and I know they have faith to get through this. I'm asking if you can give anything I know it will help them.
