Bernice’s Rescue & Surprise Puppies – Help Us Give Them a Safe Start
This July, right after the 4th of July, my partner Arik and I rescued a sweet German Shepherd/Shar-Pei mix named Bernice from what can only be described as a house of horrors. Inside were many small dogs and Bernice, the only large dog, all living in heartbreaking conditions.
We instantly knew Bernice was the one for us. She’s gentle, loyal, and so loving despite everything she endured. The rescuers had her for just 24 hours before we brought her home. For a month she settled in beautifully with us — and then came the biggest surprise of all.
In our bed, Bernice gave birth to 11 puppies.
One sadly didn’t make it, but we now have 10 beautiful, unexpected puppies who need the very best start in life. I even delivered two of the darkest puppies myself — it was an overwhelming, emotional experience that bonded us even closer to this little family.
Why We Need Help
We are committed to giving Bernice and her puppies the care they deserve, but the costs are significant:
Puppy vaccinations and shots: $975 (already spent, with two more vet visits still needed)
Vet care, food, bedding, and supplies for 10 growing pups
Household expenses, as I’ve had to stay home full-time to care for them
Our goal is $5,000, which will allow us to cover the essentials and make sure each puppy grows up healthy, strong, and ready for their forever home.
How You Can Help
Every donation — big or small — goes directly to the care of Bernice and her babies. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this story so more people can see what love and second chances can do.
From a neglected house to a bed full of puppies, Bernice’s journey is already a story of hope and healing. With your help, we can make sure it has a happy ending for her and every single one of her surprise babies.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and being part of Bernice’s rescue story.
