Bernard has spent a lifetime loving all of us...

Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their hero.

Our beautiful Bernard has suffered a critical medical emergency, an aggressive infection that, so far, has required 3 surgeries. Although doctors were able to clean out the infected areas, he remains in danger of reinfection. He is currently hospitalized but will soon be moved to a nursing facility where he will convalesce and rehabilitate. Bernard still faces a daunting challenge ahead, an adjustment to a life that will need to be lived differently.

As friends of Bernard, we are asking on his behalf for any contribution you are able to make to help with his mounting medical bills and an unknown period of time during which he will be unable to work.

Bernard needs us.

Some of us know him as Bernard Katz, the personal trainer. Some of us know him as Bernard Bernard, musician and composer. Some of us know him as Mr. Loosh aka Louis Chez, co-founder of the legendary poop-rock band Anus. Some of us know him as Butch aka Butchie, gifted athlete in the West Wilshire/Gardner Park little league scene and Herculean high school shot-put prodigy. Some of us know him from Melrose Avenue Elementary. Some of us know him from John Burroughs. Some of us know him from Fairfax. Some of us know him from crazy munchie episodes. Some of us know him as the amazing baker at Noah’s Bagels on Larchmont back in the day. Some of us know him from his dreadlocked sojourn in San Francisco. Some of us know him from the dog park, where he hangs out with his beloved pup Nuzzles. Some of us know him as the best friend we’ve ever had.

All of us know him as the very embodiment of Love.

Bernard has spent a lifetime loving all of us. Now it’s our turn to show the man how much we love him back.
