There are some things about a marathon finish line that you cannot explain until you’ve experienced it for the first time. I first felt it not as a runner, but as a spectator - watching my father and my uncle cross it together in Berlin, my father at 51, his first marathon ever. Something shifted in me that day. A year later, the three of us ran Chicago together, and I understood it from the other side.
I went on to run Paris. Then came an injury that kept me off the road for over two years, and with it, the quiet question of whether I’d come back at all.
In April 2026, I did! Madrid - two years of patience finally paying off. And in September, I’ll be in Berlin again, this time running for something beyond the finish line.
I’m raising funds for Achilles Germany, an organization that gives athletes with disabilities the opportunity to experience exactly what running has given me: confidence, resilience, community, and a sense of what the body and spirit are capable of. My coach Mário Mello, who supports Achilles in Brazil, first introduced me to their work, and I’ve been moved by it ever since.
Running has been a platform for transformation in my life. Now I want to use that platform for others.
Will you run this with me? Not on the road, but alongside me in this campaign. Every contribution, large or small, directly supports athletes who deserve the same shot at this feeling that I’ve been lucky enough to have.
Thank you for being part of this.
