Berlin, Exploding Laptops, & God's Perfect Timing

For years and years, I have been pleading with God to send me overseas. Ask my parents. They would tell you that I have been one ansty little bean to travel, especially to places outside of the U.S. For some reason (one that God knows, and I do not), the door has closed for me each time a missions opportunity arose. I have a vivid memory of sitting on the toilet lid in my mom’s bathroom, as she held me tight, weeping because God had told me to wait and not go on a trip to Peru. I had begged God to let me go, but I knew in my heart that He was whispering in my little ear, “Wait. Just wait a little longer.”

So, I waited. And I ached. Physically and spiritually, I felt this pull to go, but ultimately, I know God’s timing is infinitely better than mine.

Well, after years of prayer and waiting, God said yes!

I have been given the opportunity to go to Berlin, Germany with a small group of Life Action team members and staff from April 12th to April 20th. On this trip, we will be taught in depth about the spiritual condition of the country, as well as its history. We will learn about evangelism and practice outreach in the streets of Berlin. We will get some time to explore the city and more importantly, we will be establishing roots there so Life Action can begin moving toward more international missions in the future. AND on top of all of that, I have been asked to be the team photographer/videographer for the trip, which is both daunting and exciting.

My financial need for this trip is pretty significant: I need to raise $2500 for the trip. On top of that, I’m in desperate need of a new laptop that can efficiently process that the editing software I use for photo and video production. (My laptop is on its last leg, ya’ll. It has to be charging at all times and it sounds like a small airplane taking off when I turn it on. I’m genuinely afraid it will catch on fire at some point…).

Lastly, (I’m sorry, I know this is long) I want to encourage you in this: God knows the desires of your heart and He hears you when you ask Him to fulfill them. Whatever it is that you ache for, whatever it is that you feel pulled to do, whatever the desire is that God has put on your heart – keep seeking Him in that and trusting that He WANTS those things to happen for you. His timing, though it often doesn’t fit into our timeline, is perfect and He knows and desires the best for you.
