Thank you so very much for supporting the Sayne family. They have had a long journey with Berkley's Rett syndrome, but recently things have become urgent and their need is growing. Please read the following from Christy (super mom) and consider donating to help them with the journey ahead. They are likely facing a month in the ICU. May God bless you for helping this precious family!

My sweet Berkley "Bee" got super sick during the day Wednesday (4.26.23), and we wound up at Vandy Children’s in the ER around 3:15pm. She was in a lot of pain and extremely uncomfortable. Heart Rate was really elevated and her stomach was so descended that it was actually shiny. Vandy took her back to X-ray and CT and along with some blood work they took her into emergency surgery.
Surgery Wednesday night lasted 3-3.5 hours and the surgeon came back out and said her stomach had perforated and she was very sick. Her body was tired from surgery and they left her open and sent her to the ICU to recover for 36 hours before going back in to correct the remainder of the damage. So Wednesday night (first surgery) what they were able to do was “damage control” meaning first and foremost they had to repair the hole that was blown in her stomach. They had to take a small portion of her stomach around the hole and fold the stomach over the hole and sew it together.
36 long hours later we went back to surgery (Friday 4.28.23) where they were waiting to see how the stomach had responded and if we were going to be able to keep the remainder or take a portion that could be damaged. Surgery ended around 6:15, after a grueling 3 hours, and they were able to keep 30% of her stomach. She is still open and will have another surgery on Monday (5.1.23).
Monday is to make sure that what they left of her stomach is still looking good and can for sure be salvaged. If it can, they are going to attempt to connect it to the top of the esophagus where the original stomach would have started and place a G-tube.
She is still in ICU and will probably remain here for the next month at least. She has a long road ahead with nutrition, recovery, bowels….pretty much everything.
I am happy and so sad, and again so scared about Monday and what could potentially happen or not happen. Prayers are needed please! Baby is so sick, and I know my people are prayer warriors and if anyone can pull her through is is our Lord and our friends praying.
