Benton Boy's Future Education Fund

Donation protected
On Friday January 25th, my best friend in the world, Meghan Hanley Benton,  lost the father of her three sons very unexpectedly. His death was tragic and completely unexpected. David Benton was only 46 years old and taken far too soon from his boys,  Baker age 11, Bates age 9, and Hanley age 4.  As many of you know, David and Meg divorced a year and a half ago, and he has since remarried, but I will tell you all through that difficult time of separation, Meghan always revered David as a great dad to their three boys. When she called to tell me the news of his loss, she and I were simply heartbroken for loss of her three sons who loved their daddy so.

As an adoptive parent of children who tragically lost their biological mother and father, I suggested to Meghan something that was set up for our adoptive children at their biological parents funeral. In lieu of flowers a family member requested donations be made to an educational fund for the kids. It was something I could not have even thought of in the midst of losing family, but was so appreciate that someone else did. She has given me permission to set up this fund for educational purposes for their children,  just like someone once did for us.

David was a good father and a good provider to his family and his boys. My husband and I have grown children now and that educational fund has grown over the years and has allowed us to feel less strain during their higher education years. A once tragic day, filled with donations for our kids future, given in the the memory of their parents, is helping with their education and the memory of their parents live on. I want this same relief in the years to come for their mom, and my best friend, and for David's three  boys who have just lost so much. Meghan is a single mom and I know David would want his boys to have every opportunity to further their education.  Baker, age 11 has special needs, and will have a special needs trust set up in lieu of a college fund. Meghan and David's wishes were/are for Baker to attend a life skills program at a major university.

David was a graduate of Georgia Southern. Meghan is a graduate of Austin Peay and received her Masters degree from Belmont University. David wanted the best for his three sons always. This fund has been set up to contribute to the Benton boy's college education. We appreciate your generosity in honor of David’s legacy.

God Bless this family,
Gina Payne

*The Go Fund Me account will be converted to a bank sponsored account/trust as soon as Meghan can meet with bank/attorneys to get these accounts set up for the boys.
