Energy&functional Neurology therapy

Ben has had quite the rough start to this millennium.  At the tender young age of 14, he was a freshman in high school, joining the cross-country team to stay in shape for the upcoming basketball and baseball seasons. On Veteran’s Day 2000, he woke up with a tremendous headache.  Within 20 minutes he was unconscious, and in less than 4 hours he was undergoing emergency brain surgery to stop a massive bleed.  On New Year’s Day 2001, after a 50-day coma from which doctors told his parents he would never emerge, he woke up and started the long, painful, and arduous journey back to health.

Now, almost 17 years later, I am 31 and have graduated high school (with my class!) back in 2004; earned a certificate in Business Office Technology for students with disabilities, then an Associate's degree; and in May 2014 my Bachelor of Science in Business Management & Entrepreneurship.  I have done all of this and lived every single day of the last HALF of my life with the following limitations:

-ZERO use of my left arm/hand (and I was a lefty!)
-ZERO vision to the left of mid-point
-very interruptive tremor in my working hand
-seizure disorder, now controlled by medication
-decreased social & situational awareness, that has caused me to do/say some inappropriate things on multiple occasions
-lifelong issues with reading & focus/inattention

But, enough about the past, let's talk about the future!

We have tried many different therapies over the last 17 years – physical, occupational, and speech; then chiropractic, massage, neurofeedback, and even hyperbaric oxygen therapy.  I’m fortunate that all of that work has helped me grow stronger and more independent; I’m able to walk up and down the hill in front of my house, for an hour or more at a time – I even completed the Manchester Road Race with my mother twice in the past 3 years!  The race is supposed to be 4.7 miles, but, because we spent most of the (first) race walking BEHIND the guys picking up the cones and unblocking the side streets, we took two wrong turns; and after looking for the car for AN HOUR, we wound up walking 9.93 miles over the course of 3 hours 22 minutes! The second time we were still dead last, but didn't get lost.

I’m also grateful for all of the support we’ve gotten from our family and community, since many of these therapies are not covered by insurance.  Those who know me, know that I have big plans for the future – and now I am excited about some new therapy opportunities that have emerged.  I have found two centers (places/clinics) that I believe hold tremendous potential to help me trancend my current state of health, eliminate my limitations, and empower me to expand my abilities and contribution and dramatically impact the world and society at large.

They are:

Spring Forest Center (Qigong/energy therapy; $5,000 of the goal) and,
Plasticity Brain Centers (functional Neurology therapy; #10,000 of the goal)
