We are heartbroken to share that after a two year struggle with pancreatic cancer, our dear friend, John Benske, passed away on October 28. John left behind four beloved sons: Christian (16), Jack (14), Harry (12), and William (6) for whom we have established this college fund.
John was a truly special person who touched the lives of so many. He was an accomplished and respected professional who worked as a passionate advocate for patients. To all who knew John, he was witty and funny, with a legendary sense of humor. John was also kind and compassionate, with an enormous heart. He was a caring listener and a source of wise counsel.
Above all, John was a loving father.
John’s greatest joy was spending time with his boys. He was equal parts coach, cheerleader, and chief prankster. John was happiest surrounded by his sons, and his eyes lit up whenever they were near him--even at the very end of his life. He was enormously proud of each son and the wonderful people they were growing up to be. Sadly, John is not here to guide them in the next steps of their lives, to share their milestones, their tears, and their joys.
We wish to honor John's memory, and his great love for the boys, by relieving some of the cost of college for Christian, Jack, Harry, and William.
All of the money raised here will be divided equally among each child and placed in 529 college funds, tax-advantaged accounts for qualified educational purposes like tuition, housing, or books.
We ask that you consider a donation, no matter how small, to help make possible the future John envisioned for his sons.
This fundraiser is organized by Adam Sheingate, with the permission of the Benske family. Adam will withdraw the contributions and transfer them in four equal portions to 529 education accounts created for each of John's sons. These accounts will be managed by Edvest: Wisconsin's College Savings Plan.
