Ben has been approved to be added to the Heart Transplant List, but we need to raise AT LEAST half of the monies to get his name actually placed on it. He has been advised that he needs at least $5,000 to make the list, and at that point the Georgia Transplant Foundation will match what we can raise up to $10,000. The potential $10,000 to $20,000 will be used for the heart transplant, medications, etc.
Ben’s story: On June 21st 2015, Ben had a heart attack which lead to 3 stents being put in. He had difficulties through that year and many stays in the hospital, while doctors and nurses worked on his treatment plan. Then June 15th 2016, Ben received an LVAD implant. (Left Ventricle Assist Device) This technology has afforded him to be able to participate in life events again. We are blessed to have Ben’s LVAD unit, but it does take quite a bit planning on his part. He must travel with trained people that know how the LVAD works, a lot of special medicine, and chargers for batteries. LVAD gave him the opportunity to travel to Texas in September of 2016 and walk his only daughter (Ami) down the aisle. It was a special moment that brought tears to so many peoples’ eyes. He loves spending time helping his friends in their Volkswagen car club and he treasures the time he gets to spend with his family and supportive wife, Linda.
The next step in this long journey is a heart transplant. Any amount of help that you can afford will help with reaching the big goal. Thank you in advance!
