Ben’s Fight Against Melanoma

Hi My name is Dayna, Ben’s wife! I just wanted to tell our story a bit and why we decided to start a Go Fund Me.
In July of 2019 Ben was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma with Mets to his Brain, over the past 2 1/2 years we’ve had a pretty bumpy ride from the start of his Immunotherapy where the Yervoy attacked his liver in October 2019 so we had to stop even though it did help take out quite a few Mets (We started with 19 Mets in his Brain) In December 2019 one of his Mets grew while off treatment and on Steroids so Ben started January 2020 with radiation which seemed to help at first but then February 2020 he started having seizures, we got that under “control” then the Pandemic hit and our appointments looked a lot different for his infusions and what not. In August 2020 Ben had a major seizure and that brought us to the point of discussing his 1st Tumor resection from his Brain which happened November 2020. About 6 months later April 2021 he had his 2nd Tumor resection. Now let’s jump ahead 8 months…
Here we are Ben started having back pain in November got sent home with a clean CT when we went to the hospital, his pain intensified and I finally talked him into another trip to the hospital the day after Christmas and we got sent home after a CT showed Diverticulitis with some antibiotics. Our Oncologist sent us back the next day because of how much pain Ben was in that’s when Ben lost the function of his legs on day 4 at Good Sam’s so they requested a Spinal MRI which showed extensive Mets to the Spinal column through his Cervical, Thoracic and Lumbar region. So they transferred us up to Seattle New Years eve at midnight, what a way to bring in the New Year 2022. January 1, 2022 Ben was given 6 months to live with or with out surgery. We have decided against Surgery so his time with us is maximized. Tomorrow he starts radiation while he is here in Seattle for the next 2 wks he will be doing radiation and then he will get to come home to up his immunotherapy game. Please pray for him to regain the use of his legs and for his Medical team to be skilled and knowledgeable in our medical plan and last but not least a Miracle to kick cancers ass.
I will be taking a LOA for the next few months to care for my Love and with the Medical bills growing, gas to get here every day, and everything in between we have finally decided to start a go fund me because I know EVERYONE wants to help. I’ve had so many people reach out to ask what they can do and I’m just overwhelmed with the love for my husband and family ❤️ So here we are I am grateful for everyone who has helped/ is going to help through my husbands journey with cancer! Thank you for all the Prayers, Love and Positive Vibes once again let’s kick cancers ass!
