Hi, my name is Ben and I swim with Leeds Lifesaving taking part in regional and national competitions around the UK.
I am competing for Leeds Lifesaving at Wexford International Lifesaving Competition at the end of February in Ireland. There are 48 swimmers competing for Leeds Lifesaving in teams of four.
To help raise money towards the trip we are completing a swim challenge.
In my team of four lifesavers we are collectively trying to swim the length of the English Channel or further before the competition.
English Channel - 21 Miles - 1360 Lengths (25m Pool)
I am aiming to swim a minimum of 5.25 miles - 340 Lengths.
Leeds Lifesaving is a non-profit volunteer Lifesaving Club that facilitates hundreds of lifesavers in Leeds to train and attend competitions around the UK and overseas. Most of the club swimmers range from age 8 – 18. Our swimmers train in a variety of lifesaving disciplines, including Rescue Lifesaving and Speed Lifesaving.
In addition to the competitive sport, Lifesaving develops essential life skills for young people including First Aid skills that many of our participants have used in real life situations to help save lives!
