This post is on behalf of a wonderful gentleman, Ben Munoz, 45, son of Ismeal and Rosa Munoz, and partner of Kevin Blazzard.

On Friday, September 29, 2023, while in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Ben unfortunately suffered an AVM, brain bleed, which led to two emergency brain surgeries, and a very long road to recovery.

Because medical insurance in the USA does not cover incidents outside of our country, the expense has been astronomical for the family.  Thus far, they have provided payment, which was demanded up front before care would even be given, and continual payments have been required to keep Ben alive daily.

To-date the cost of hospitalization, surgery, doctors, ICU, etc. has been over $150,000 US dollars, yes that is right, the family has paid out of pocket expense is US dollars, and they are asked daily for $7000 to keep Ben in ICU, which is vital and necessary.  The family has maxed out cash on hand and credit cards.

The neurosurgeon and doctors are confident that a total recovery will happen but will take time. They are looking at Ben rehabilitating for a few weeks, before another surgery is required to replace his skull cap, which will be another astronomical cost.  Ben is unable to travel home in his condition, and will remain in Mexico, under their care until at the very least his skull cap surgery is complete.

The family is exhausted and worried, but the main concern is keeping Ben cared for and alive.

This Go Fund Me has been set up on behalf of his immediate family and will go directly into their account and 100% of these funds will be directed for Ben’s hospital and recovery care.
