Benny's vet and neutering fee
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Chelsea, a single disabled mother of 2. After lots of suggestions to start a gofundme, and many making me feel bad for not doing this, I decided to atleast try.
Our beloved dog Benny and I experienced a traumatic event due to 2 off leash dogs in November outside our apartment. I sustained severe injury to my dominant hand, while poor Benny had wounds to his head and leg. Sadly due to the incident, Benny became very reactive to dogs. We live in a building full of other dogs, many with their own anxieties and living here has increasingly been hard on him. Benny is 2.5 yrs old, still young with the chance of neutering helping even just a small bit.
We are facing needing to rehome him, but the first step is insuring he is neutered and assessed by a vet for potential anxiety meds. Unfortunately our family has been facing constant financial hardships, partially because I am unable to work as much due to the injury and my previous disabilities worsening.
We are hoping to have him neutered first to see if that will help curb his dog reactivity, and secondly to be sure his furever future home won't be breeding him. We are hoping to work with a rescue in rehoming him, but having him neutered greatly increases his chances.
We do not have a vet situated here in Nanaimo but intend to work with Hammond Bay Animal hospital due to their cheaper fees. Understandably many feel uneasy donating directly to the dog owner for this, and I can call ahead to Hammond Bay to have anyone send directly to them. We sadly cannot afford his initial first vet check before the neuter due to funds gone to my son's recent BCCH emergency trip so no other vets currently have record of Benny. Our last vet was in Black Creek.
I am happy to answer any questions.
