My name is Courtney, and I am a proud aunt to three beautiful boys, Kaden, age 5, Jaxson age 6, and last but not least, Easton, who was only brought into the world a month ago. While my sister and her fiance, Benny, are ecstatic about their new bundle of joy. They also face a massive loss in their life, leaving them with an enormous amount of financial stress.

My sister Samantha is a kind and caring woman who stands up for what she believes in. She is an incredible mother who never stops trying to be better for her children. She is an overall hard-working woman and mother. I have seen her overcome obstacles I personally wouldn't have survived. She has been through immense grief, heartbreak, and pain, yet is still the first to put out her hand for someone in need. She is willing to give a stranger the shirt off her back. Her ability to empathize with others and love others deeply after all the loss she has encountered is what I genuinely admire most about her. This is why I believe it is time she first hand sees she is not alone, and God is good; all the good she has done in her life will come back and help her and her family during this stressful time.

Benny and Sam were good friends well before they got together. They knew each other's flaws and past mistakes and, despite them, opened their hearts to love each other. When Sam and Benny first got together, they knew the other person was a package deal. Benny is a proud father to Jaxson, and Sam to Kaden. Both Jaxson and Kaden now have another person in their life who can love and help them grow. Their relationship started out as friends, and I believe this made their relationship and understanding of each other even more substantial.

Benny is a marine veteran who has also seen his own share of pain and heartache over his lifetime. Despite it all, he is an amazing man and person. I wouldn't want any other man marrying my sister and caring for my nephews. She had indeed hit the jackpot when it came time to find her soulmate. Benny is a great man and father; anyone who knows him can see it. He walked into my sister's life with open ears learning her whole story without judgment. He has shown nothing but love for Sam, Kaden, and now Easton. During this time, I have seen his ability to love everyone and be a present father in his three children's lives. Sadly today, many children are faced with the heartache of an absent parent. As an aunt, all I can ask is my nephews experience a loving household that encourages their growth in healthy

Aside from serving in the Military, Bennys main job was as a fabricator working on countertops. On September 18, 2018, Benny went to work, not knowing this day would forever change his life. He arrived at the worksite. Like any other day at work, he assisted another employee with granite slabs when the forklift released the clamp. The slab fell, causing two additional slabs to knock over. All three slabs, totaling 3000lbs, landed on Benny, crushing both of his legs. Benny was lying on the ground underneath a total of 3000lbs of rock for an hour until they could lift the slabs off. He was immediately airlifted to the emergency room for care.

Since then, Benny has had a total of 15 surgeries to reattach his legs and have hardware in both ankles and right leg so he would be able to walk. His bones never healed all the way, so a year ago, Benny had to go back into surgery to scrape all the scar tissue out and replace the metal bar in his leg. Unfortunately, this did not work, the nerves and tissue in his leg were dead, and he no longer had tendons in his shin. In addition to that, the injury has caused him to have a drop foot. A drop foot is when a person has difficulty raising their foot, this was causing unnecessary pain on his hips and back. Because Bennys right leg was not healing how the doctors expected, they thought it would be in the Best interest for Benny to get his leg amputated in order to live a fulfilling life with a minimum amount of pain.

During Benny's recovery time, he has been interested in working heating and cooling for a future career. Benny has been attending school for HVAC during his recovery time. Once his legs have recovered, he hopes to provide for his family using the degree he would receive. However, now that his journey has made a drastic change resulting in his right leg getting amputated, he's left with the disappointing news HVAC may be too much physical labor for his condition. The Military has been providing Benny with the funds to live while going through schooling. Now that Benny has stopped his classes, the Military is no longer giving him the funds.

Bennys surgery for the Amputation of his right leg was on October 26. Sadly with the new rules regarding COVID-19, I have not gotten a chance to visit him. However, it will most likely be two months before Benny can walk. Once Benny can walk with a prosthetic leg, he will be in intense physical therapy. This injury has left Benny with a massive loss of his self-identity. Benny will never play baseball to the ability he once did. Baseball practice out in the yard with his three sons will remind him of who he used to be. Benny will need to recover physically and emotionally from the traumatic accident, resulting in losing his right leg.

We know times are challenging for everyone right now. However, Samantha and Benny are always the first to give to others. On top of COVID-19 and welcoming a new baby into the world, Their family faces the loss of Benny's leg. These challenging times have left my nephews' mother and father in fear of losing the roof over their heads. If you can donate anything to help us get through this, we would appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
With bills, food, diapers, etc. they do not bring in enough to cover the necessities to live. Benny is receiving a workman's comp, but it just is not enough to live on and provide for their family.
Even if you cannot donate anything, we can hopefully raise enough money to get us through this trying time if you could share it with your friends.
Thank you all, and we appreciate anything you can do to help.
