The purpose of this fund raiser is to raise money to help a fellow neighbour and his family during this difficult time in their life.
Benny was struck by a falling tree a few months back and had to be airlifted to hospital. The accident has left him paralyzed. His collarbone was broken, and the nerves in the lower part of his spinal cord was damaged. He recently underwent surgery on his shoulder and collarbone and is now recovering at St. Michael's hospital in Toronto. Doctors are hesitant to start rehab to help Benny walk again until his shoulder is better and he is able to physically support himself using his arms. Although Benny claims to have some feeling in his legs, he remains paralyzed in his hospital bed. It is unsure if he will ever be able to walk again.
He leaves at home his wife Grete, and his children Adam & Christina. Both children are young adults and have been able to help with day-to-day chores, but the family still struggles without their father and husband.
The insurance company is not helping the family.
As good neighbours, we'd like to invite you and anyone you know that might be interested in helping to raise as much money as possible to allow Benny the peace of mind that his family will be ok to pay bills and adjust to this new way of life.
