On February 28, 2018, Rare Disease Day, the world lost a bright light.
Bennett Charles McClurken-Gibney had SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). He spent most of his life overcoming obstacles and raising awareness for how inaccessible the world is.
One of his greatest joys was to go to the ARC park in Richmond, a playground that allows kids of all abilities to play together. Help us build an all abilities playground for all ages in Charlotteville. Let this be his legacy, so his light will continue to touch others.
The ARC of the Piedmont has set up a special account for Bennett's Village and will be handling disbursement of funds for the all abilities playground. Kara McClurken, Bennett's mom, will serve as the intermediary between the gofundme account and The Arc of the Piedmont.
If you would prefer to send a check, you may write a check to The Arc of the Piedmont, with “FBO Bennett’s Village” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to: Arc of the Piedmont, Attn: Bennett’s Village, 1149 Rose Hill Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
