Pictures by Kylie Richter Photography Bennett Louise Salmond is one tough cookie. She lives her life with daily struggles that most of us could never endure. While there is no definite diagnosis yet, Bennett battles with bilateral esotropia and visual impairments which throw her balance, equilibrium, and vestibular systems off. She deals with global developmental delays that include: cognitive delay, fine and gross motor skill delay, and sensory triggers. She also has severe reflux and digestive trouble. Most would never guess any of this upon getting to know Bennett because she is such a bright light with a constant CAN-DO attitude.
Her parents, Chandler and Molly Salmond have remained strong and vowed to fight with her through all of this. They are taking every measure imaginable to make sure she gets to lead as normal of a life as possible. This includes numerous hours every day of home therapies, exercise, and stimulation. It includes a lot of travel time and mileage for appointments, surgery, and therapy sessions every week. This also includes submerging themselves in a financial commitment that is much larger than could ever be foreseen. They are working hard to get her out to an institute that deals with neurological and developmental delays. This institute works with a highly recommended team of specialists that don't only focus on a diagnosis and an answer as to what is going on, but to equip them with as many tools and strategies possible to help Bennett thrive for years to come. The love these parents have for their angel has no limit and it shows every single day in Bennett's amazing yet unexpected progression.
Any and all of your support will make it possible for her and her family to finally get the assistance they need to cope with her long, hard journey ahead while she is still growing and developing. We have the opportunity to fuel her and her parents' ambition to help Bennett be the very best she can be.
