Bennett's Restoration (Part 2)

Tax deductible
This campaign is to raise the funds necessary for Bennett to complete part 2 of his journey for healing from CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome).

NOTE: We are closing out the previous GoFundMe campaign that so many gave to.  Thank you for your support!  We've decided to launch this new campaign due to the significant costs associated with this next phase of Bennett's treatment and the desire to provide a way for your donations to be tax-deductible.  This new campaign will direct all funds through Ezekiel Rain.  Contributions made through this campaign are tax deductible.

New Treatment Clinic - New Breakthrough

On May 28th, Bennett began a new treatment program at the Neurologic Relief Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  This clinic is world renowned for its success in treating this type of neurological disorder. This week Bennett began his 4th week of treatment and his pain levels are slowly improving. The neuromuscular re-education therapist that he works with daily believes this week will be key in seeing his pain levels drop.  His therapist is excellent and a great fit for Bennett. Bryce trained professional athletes at another facility in Minnesota for 8 years before moving to this clinic 2 years ago.  Bennett is working hard and only has a slight limp now when he walks.  Remember, when he arrived in the US in April, he was completely wheelchair bound.

He has fought hard for this recovery and his grit and determination to be well is inspiring!  He is an outstanding athlete and longs to be on the soccer field again!  This journey has done deep things in him and he desires to be one that carries hope and light to those around him!  We believe God has big things for Bennett and his calling and destiny are great!

Financial situation

Many of you gave through our initial GoFundMe campaign!  Thank you!!  All of Bennetts treatments at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas were completely covered by Arkansas Medicaid! His treatments there played a pivotal role in his recovery! The money raised through the previous campaign was used to help with the medical expenses incurred in Thailand before Amy and Bennett returned to the States, travel expenses and helping Amy's parents with living and travel expenses for the 7 weeks that Bennett and Amy lived with them.

The clinic that Bennett is in now is not covered by Medicaid.  These treatments are geared toward increasing the health and function of the central nervous system through various therapies to balance the autonomic nervous system.  The neuro therapy he does seeks to move the CRPS patient out of a sympathetic dominant state (fight or flight) to a parasympathetic dominant state.  It is all very fascinating and I’m amazed at all of the new technology that is coming out to heal these neurologic disorders.  If you have further questions about the treatments, feel free to ask.  The 12-week program will cost approximately $32,000. Through your support and our own resources we have been able to pay that down to a total of around $23,000.  We are believing for God’s provision for the remaining balance.

A little about BENNETT

We have known from the day Bennett was born that God had a unique purpose for this very intense boy.  What we didn't know was the battles that lay ahead.  We didn't know how hard we would have to fight for Bennett's destiny....in so many areas.

As parents it is our calling and privilege to not only call forth the destiny in our children, but also to fight for that destiny when it comes under attack.   The psalmist wrote that children are like arrows in the hands of a warrior.   Bennett is our arrow and we are the warriors.  Bennett is a leader, an influencer, a fighter.  He has the heart of David...tender and sensitive yet passionate and ready to fight.  He truly loves Jesus and longs to be more like Him.  What an honor it is to be the warrior that sends him to the places we will never go! And so....WE FIGHT!

Bennett's injury and subsequent battle with CRPS were a direct assault on his destiny.   As Bennett has suffered through the pain he has battled discouragement, grief and a sense of hopelessness.   But, he is a fighter and he refuses to give up.  Today Bennett is full of hope and is confident that he will make a full recovery.

Bennett is embracing his treatment and even this week has had so much breakthrough in the area of pain.  He is a joy to the other patients at the clinic and their faces light up with a smile when he walks in the door.

Bennett's battle isn't over yet.  But we know that He is able.  He has led us to this clinic and He provides all that we need one day at a time.

From all of the Karum family, Thank you for praying and thank you for giving!
