My best friend, companion, and hiking/ mountain biking partner Bennett has tore her CCL (cranial cruciate ligament), which is basically the ACL equivalent to humans. We still have to get tests done in order to eventually get her surgery. The chance of full recovery is 90-95%. The initial tests which includes X-rays, blood tests (to see if her liver can handle anti-inflammatories), and sedation for a shelf test (to see if her knee slides side to side from the tear) are going to cost $685. The surgery itself was estimated to cost $3600 which is call the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotony. Right now, she’s very hesitant to put any weight on her leg after physical activity. I want her to be able to get back doing what she loves to do. I would deeply appreciate any help to get Bennett on the road to recovery. I got Bennett when she was 8 weeks old and she’s been the best thing that’s come into my life (I’m sure all pet owners could relate). She’s always full of energy and good spirit, ready to play at a moments notice. She goes pretty much everywhere with me and she’s usually the deciding factor with where we decide to eat out whether they’re dog friendly or not. She is always showing an immense amount of love to strangers and people she knows. Almost all of my free time is spent with her. S ince her injury I’ve had to leave her at home for bike rides, and when she sees me grab my bike she’s ready and waiting at the door to go with me. She has a crazy talent for climbing of technical rocks while we’re hiking in upper park and it almost seems like a game to her. It’s hard for me and her that these things can’t be a regular part of her life at this point, and she deserves it for how amazing of a dog she’s been in her short life so far.
