Bennett Klenda (age 5) - Brain Tumor Fundraising

Sweet Bennett Klenda and his family – Britany (Glim), Matt, Mia, Cole, and pup Laila – could use your help.

In mid-September, Britany expressed concern to their pediatrician about a loss of use of Bennett's right hand. The pediatrician referred Bennett to a neurologist immediately. Remarkably, the family was able to get into Lurie Children's Hospital that following Monday (9/25). The neurologist proceeded with an EEG that day, which showed some slowing on the left side of his brain. An MRI was ordered, which was thankfully able to be performed quickly that Wednesday (9/27). During the MRI, they found a sizable tumor in the left hemisphere of his brain – the cause for his loss of mobility on the right side. Surgery was performed 2 days later on Friday (9/29). After a long procedure, the doctor did confirm that it's cancer unfortunately, but came out confident they got the full tumor out.

Bennett has a long road ahead of him, with potentially more medical procedures and MRIs to monitor any future growth. But the family is so grateful for how quickly the Lurie hospital staff has been able to address Bennett's needs, all within a week's time from the concern being raised.
