My mum passed away at the young age of 58 following a battle with Lewy-Body Dementia. I'm on a mission to raise funds for the charity 'The Lewy Body Dementia Society'.

I am by nobody's standards an athlete, just an average guy who decided to start running as a means to get fit. The Bennachie Ultra is a little over 50km and features over 5000ft of elevation gain. I've set myself no time targets, just to raise as much money as possible and cross the finish line.

A bit about the Charity taken from their website...

We are the only charity in the UK – and the first in Europe – dedicated exclusively to Lewy body dementia.

Lewy body dementia is the second most common type of neurodegenerative dementia in older people. At least 10-15% of all people who live with dementia have Lewy body dementia.

We campaign to raise awareness of Lewy body dementia in those who need to understand the disease and its impact – people living with Lewy body dementia and those who can make a difference to their futures.

We fundraise to research new treatments and potential cures.

"Dementia in young people, also known as young-onset dementia, refers to the condition occurring in individuals under the age of 65. While often associated with older adults, dementia can affect younger individuals, presenting with different challenges and requiring specialized support. "
