Support Shannon's Fight Against Cancer
I am Amy and have been friends with Shannon Jones for close to 40 years.
In October she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. After months of blood transfusions, chemotherapy, radiation, and even internal radiation, she rang the bell in March. But, before her 3 month check up, she began experiencing severe back pain. After spending a week in the hospital flat on her back, the doctors told her what no one wants to hear- the cancer has metastasized. Spine, lungs, sternum, lymphnodes that we know for sure. A PET scan is scheduled to give the oncologist a better picture, but we know it is very aggressive and had spread very rapidly. She completed several more rounds of radiation to try and ease the pain caused by the cancer fracturing her spine in several places, but has not had any relief and is on high doses of pain medication and steroids to try and make her comfortable and must use a wheel chair to get around.
Shannon will begin treatment next week and will have 3 treatments over the next 9 weeks then another scan to see if this treatment plan is working.
Funds raised will go to help cover basic cost of living expenses as well as medical expenses like medication and a cold cap to help her not lose her hair.
