Benji needs your help

We have requested an itemised bill but we have been advised we will only get it upon settlement of account at closure. I am not sure if that is correct from the advice we have received from some people who saw our gofundme but thats what we have been informed. I have written an email. Benji is under sedation and medication at the hospital so not sure if taking him off the meds to get a 2nd referral is good for him but Ill keep pursuing a breakdown and speak to our original vet for a referral. This is no way to be negative to the hospital that is looking after our Benji we are just being as transparent as we can after we received comments made about the estimated bill and advice from some wonderful people concerned for our Benji well being*

Help Save Benji

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for help. My sister’s and nephew’s beloved cat, Benji, is in urgent need of surgery that costs $20,000. This surgery is crucial for his health and well-being, and without it, he may not have much time left. Benji was involved in a tragic incident with a dog that has left him with extensive wounds on each side of his body. We have spent the last 2 weeks bringing him to a stable condition so as the prognosis looks positive we need to consider surgery.

I would like to tell you a story and provide some background as to why we are fighting hard for Benji.

Benji has been a part of my sister’s life for 2 years, it may seem like that’s a short time but he is more than just a pet; He has become a cherished member of my sister’s family. My sister, is a single Mother raising her autistic child, my nephew. We try to support where we can and If anyone knows what it is like to raise a child with autism you can understand how important a support animal is to any family. Benji is my nephew’s companion and has been a source of comfort and stability for my nephew, helping him navigate his daily challenges.

If that wasn’t hard enough my sister suffers from depression and anxiety, a result from an abusive relationship. My sister and nephew are thankfully away from that situation but this is where Benji entered their lives. Benji was abused and abandoned himself and my sister raised him from a kitten. Together my sister helped heal Benji’s wounds whilst in turn he helped my sister and nephew, providing her comfort and emotional support through theirs. I can’t describe enough how something so little and broken too with no fault of his own came into my sister’s world to bring joy back into her life which she lost years ago.

The cost of the surgery is overwhelming, and we are unable to cover it on our own. This is why we are turning to the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and animal lovers everywhere.

We understand 20k is a lot and I have provided the estimate below for transparency. We are not expecting to reach this goal but any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and bring us one step closer to saving Benji. Also for any amount that has been raised over the surgery costs we will donate to Saving Animal Matters Rescue which is a self funded non for profit rescue and provide full transparency on this page as we would also like to help these animals in need as they may one day provide a comfort for someone who needs it. We are only requesting what is needed to help Benji as we want him home.
