Hi my name is Shamal Dauphin , I was walking my dog Benji on March 31 , 2025 at 10pm when a man recklessly and suddenly drove onto the sidewalk and hit and ran my dog over with his Ebike , leaving him with a broken back leg and unable to properly walk . I called the Police but they said they can't do nothing because they don't have a video or picture of the person . This has left me in a financial strut . I have had to so far pay 692.41 for xrays , medication and to have them splint/bandage his leg . They also said i would be looking at $3000-$5000 as they are 99% sure it's fractured and would need to see a specialist to have surgery and fix it. I am on ODSP and just spent $1500 on vaccines and vet bills out of pocket in the last 2 months and then now $692.41 and also another 3000 - 5000 ( if surgery is needed ) on top of that is impossible for me . I have tried 3 different finance places and have been denied and no Vet i talk to offers payment plans. I don't know what to do other than this , as i feel i failed my dog as an owner. I know it may not seem that way but it just feels that way with not being able to afford these unexpected emergency exspenses . When i first got him i had 2100 saved but went through that quickly with Vaccines , Consultations , Food , Acessories and etc . Im sad to say if i can't afford to fix his leg they told me i would have to surrender him over . Which i dont want to have to do because i love him and he's my son's emotional companion ( as he has Autism ) and dont want to lose the bond my son and I have created with him . He's my furbaby and i just want the best for him . So im asking for your help , anything helps really even if it's a dollar. It just means im one step closer to overcoming this obstacle and getting him back in good health and good spirits again. Thank you and I apprieciate you taking the time to read this .
