Benji

I would like to tell you about a remarkable young man. His name is Benji. Benji is a husband, father, son and a miracle. Benji and his mom Sandra started a lawn maintenance company, Portside Servies 18 years ago. He has been servicing an average of 80 customers ever since. Benji loves his customers; he still services several of his original customers including Sally Werntz. Benji has a wife, Misty, and a 14 year old son, Lucas, and two grown children.

Benji needs our support. On October 23, Benji suffered an aortic dissection. This is a rare occurrence; many don't survive it, but he did. As a result, he incurred 3 major surgeries in a 24-hour period, to include two aortic grafts and the removal of a portion of his small intestine.  He spent 24 days in the hospital and was sent home with a stomach vacuum and a feeding tube. He has a very long road ahead to recover. At least one more surgery will be required to restore ample blood to his left hand; Benji is left handed, and the blood flow to this arm and hand were diminished leaving the ability to use it limited. Additional surgeries may be necessary for his stomach.

As you can see, Benji has been through a lot, and without any medical insurance his future journey is going to be a struggle. With medical bills mounting, and the inability to work, we are hoping to help him and his family through this holiday season and the difficult months to come.
