Benji Emergency Care

Donation protected
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support for our little Benji!! Your generosity has been so very, very appreciated. The kids check everyday with smiles and gratitude over the love and generosity of others. They are just amazed to see how many of our friends and family have helped their little dog brother in his recovery. We are all so appreciative!!
UPDATE:
Benji came home on June 1st and still has a long road to recovery. He is eating and drinking well. He has a catheter and 2 drains that should be removed by Thursday. He is comfortable but still hurts when standing. The next 5 days are critical for the wound to heal correctly. He will need much care and these next six weeks are going to be difficult but after that thanks to everyone's prayers and support he will be back to himself again. We can't wait for that day to come. He is a sweet and loving dog and we are so glad he has a second chance and on his way to a healthy recovery.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
On Sunday, May 28th our almost two year old, sweet and loving, Old English Sheepdog was hit by a car. We were all working in the yard when he ran off thinking he could herd a car. Initially they saw him run towards them, but thought he ran back to our house. They proceeded with caution; however, sadly it ended in him being struck by the car. He suffered multiple fractures in his pelvic region and bilateral hips, as well as, extensive external wounds across his abdomen, requiring immediate surgery and drainage tube placement. Thankfully there is no internal organ damage that has been identified at this point. He has already undergone emergency surgery to repair his left hip and pelvic bone. He will also likely require further surgical repair of his right badly fractured hip and socket. As most pet owners know emergency care for animals is very expensive and little help is out there. The treatment is estimated to cost between $15-20k. Our children were so impacted by this tragedy that our daughter started her own fundraising plan to craft perler bead sheepdogs to raise money for his care. She spent all day yesterday making these beautiful pieces of her art and asked us to start a GoFundMe page to help with his care. She wishes to send anyone who donates one of her pieces of art in gratitude of your support and generosity. If anyone can help we would be forever grateful.
