Benjar Dungca (Tatay) Funeral Service

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends, this is Lota, oldest daughter of Benjar Dungca, also known as Tatay to us all.  With a heavy heart, my dad past away early morning on March 1st . Tatay was admitted for Covid 19, however, in addition to his COPD, the doctor also informed us that he caught pneumonia. In high spirits, my father fought for 30 days in ICU with minimal communication with us and the rest of his family.  However, it was still very difficult to communicate through Zoom due to him being on a ventilator.  Regardless, we're so grateful and thankful for all the Doctors, nurses, and staff on making every effort to accommodate and comfort Tatay. With Gods favor, we as a family finally had the opportunity to share his final moments together physically alongside my mom, siblings and Tatay's grand kids overseas thru video call via Messenger all the way until his last breath.  To our dear family and friends, thank you so much for all your thoughts, prayers, and support. We truly feel that your prayers opened up favor for Tatay to lean closer to God throughout this entire process.

Tatay was a humble gentleman born in the Philippines. He was the only child, raised entirely by his mom, Fortunata Dungca because his father died when he was 8 months old. Tatay and my grandmother were inseparable.  He married my mother(Nanay) and had 4 kids: 3 daughters, Carol, Janeth and myself, and his only son, Benjar Jr. Tatay has 6 grand kids, Renzo, Jaz, CJ, Jann, Samantha and Janina. Though he seemed nonchalant, deep down he loved us but most notably, he showed his admiration for his grandchildren. Tatay arrived in Los Angeles, February of 2011 to live with us. He looked forward to experiencing a better life but also to seek better medical care. Tatay was our handyman and with no hesitation, help us in any way possible.

With the help of my husband (Jerry), we've created a GoFundMe as a means to assist on funeral costs.  In addition, once Covid restrictions are lifted, we will take Tatay's ashes back to his birth place because he requested to be buried beside his mom.

It is difficult to ask this request, but best to set our pride aside and just be open and honest on our needs.  Any amount you're able to offer is truly appreciated and with sincere heart felt gratitude.  We know Covid has affected all of us whether directly or indirectly so whatever you're able, we truly thank you. God Bless Always and Be Safe.  Lota, Jerry and family.
