When the unthinkable happens we fall to our knees and pray for guidance and ask for help.

Alexis and Steven were married in June of 2022, and immediately staring working to expand their family. Ever since Lexi was a little girl she wanted to be a wife and mother and it was time to make those dreams a reality. At Thanksgiving, they were excited to announce to family and friends that baby Eitel was arriving in June of 2024. On February 3rd, they delighted to share the news that they were having a boy! Lexi’s pregnancy was progressing well, and they were enjoying all the milestones and planning for baby boys arrival.

At 30 weeks, Lexi had a routine appointment that changed everything. At that visit they discovered that baby Benjamin had an extremely fast heart rate and some fluid around his heart, lungs, and stomach. Lexi was sent immediately to Abbotts Mother and Baby Hospital for medical intervention.

Alexis and Benjamin were cared for by an amazing group of maternal and neonatal experts. Lexi was placed on bed rest and many tests were completed. Benjamin had both SVTs and atrial flutter. This means that he had both an abnormal heart rhythm and an extremely fast heart rate. They were not able to determine a cause, but they did know how to treat it. Over the next 3 weeks Lexi received multiple medications to try and regulate Benjamin’s heart and was closely monitored to make sure her heart was not impacted by his treatments. Lexi and Steven were steadfast in their love and determination to help Benjamin continue to grow.

On Sunday the 14th, they discovered Lexi was slowly leaking amniotic fluid, meaning that her water had broke! Medications were started to keep them both healthy and an additional round of steroids were given to help Benjamin’s lungs, since he was still considered to be premature. The goal became to keep Ben inside of his mom as long as safely possible.

On Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at 2:10 am Benjamin David Eitel was born via emergency c-section. Benjamin was immediately placed in the NICU and for 3 days the doctors used all of their knowledge, family and friends prayed, and Lexi and Steven stayed by his side encouraging him to fight.

On Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at 3:17pm, little Benjamin took his last breath while being held by his mom and dad and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus.

Many of you have asked how you can help support Lexi and Steven and we have created this site for you to share your love, and hopefully some financial support as well. Due to being on strict bed rest in the hospital for 3 weeks, Lexi has not been working, and they will both need some additional time to heal and grieve. Added to that are substantial medical bills, including an $8,000 deductible, and funeral costs. While this is not the future, they planned for we ask for your support as they navigate the unknown and learn to live life after the loss of their amazing little boy.
