Benjamin "Leroy" Knapp Tonti

It is with a heavy heart to announce that my wonderful dad, Leroy Knapp, known to some as Benjamin Tonti, has passed away. For anyone who had the pleasure of meeting this man knows the kindness, generosity, love, and patience that radiated from him. An individual, who’s light always lead the way, no matter the darkness. His happiness and positive outlook on life always baffled me. For those who did not know, he and his siblings had a rough childhood and were eventually put up for adoption. How this never dimmed his light I’ll never know. He always kept a positive mindset and “chose to be happy” every day. He always said that…”you have to choose to have a good day”. His “good day” often involved fishing, ginseng hunting, yellow rooting, mushroom hunting, drinking coffee, giving horsey rides, and loving his family. He was the best…the BEST father, husband, grandpa, uncle, brother, nephew, cousin, son, friend, and acquaintance. So please come on Saturday, March 1, 2025 starting at noon to Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home in Greenfield and let’s have a “good day” in memory of Leroy.

I know people would love to help and often in times of distress they may not know how. So, I am posting this to give anyone who would like to help a chance to do so.
