Hello everyone,

My name is Benjamin Brousseau, I am a 17-year-old biathlete from the Bow Valley. My journey in biathlon began at the age of 12 when I joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program. There, I had the opportunity to compete in two National Cadet Biathlon Competitions and was awarded multiple medals and recognition.

In 2019, I joined the Canmore Nordic Ski Club and became a part of the Team Trail Sports Development. I train 6 to 7 times a week and attend specialized camps that focus on endurance and performance. Despite my demanding training schedule, I am also a full-time Grade 12 student.

My hard work and dedication to the sport have allowed me to become a top athlete in both the Youth and Junior categories. Last December, I represented Canada on the Junior International Biathlon Union Tour in Italy and Austria, where I achieved my goal of finishing in the top 40 athletes. This March, I will be representing Canada in the Biathlon Youth World Championship in Kazakhstan and I hope to improve upon my previous results.

The cost of the 2022-23 season is estimated to exceed $30,000, including training, coaching, equipment, ammunition, race registrations, and travel expenses. As the second youngest in a family of six, this financial burden is a significant challenge. Despite this, I have persevered and have been training full-time while working part-time and taking online classes to alleviate some of the costs.

That's why I am reaching out to you for help. Your support will remove a portion of the financial burden and allow me to fully focus on improving my skills and representing Canada at the highest levels.

In addition to pursuing my passion for biathlon, I also believe in giving back to the community. While reaching my goals and establishing myself as a competitive athlete, I like to use my experience and knowledge to mentor and inspire the next generation of biathletes. My goal is not just to perform, but to also make a positive impact on the lives of those around me. I believe that through biathlon, I can not only improve myself but also inspire and support others in their personal and athletic journeys.
