Benjamin aspires to represent Australia in Judo
Donation protected
Hi all, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Benjamin Ward, a senior judoka of the Cairns Judo Club in Far North Queensland, and I am seeking your support so that I may continue to travel to judo competitions around Australia as I aspire towards achieving national representative selection.
It is my dream to represent Australia at international competitions, and ultimately at the 2032 Olympics being held in Brisbane.
I started judo at the age of 4 years old and now at the age of 16 my passion for judo has only increased. Currently I hold the grade of 2nd Kyu (Blue Belt), however over the next few months I am be working towards gaining my 1st Kyu (Brown Belt) in preparation of obtaining my Sho Dan (Black Belt) by my 18th birthday.
So far in my judo career I have proudly represented my club and my state, achieving several championship titles and podium places at regional, state and national levels of competitions. Presently, I compete in the U90 Cadet Men’s and Junior Men’s divisions, where I am currently ranked 4th in both on the Australian National Points table.
In order to reach my goals, I need to travel to compete at a variety of competitions, including the upcoming Queensland State Championships in Brisbane, the Oceania International Cadet & Junior Cup in Perth and the Australian National Championships on the Gold Coast. Additionally, later in the year, competitions such as the Brisbane International Open and the Australian National Schools Championships will take place.
To date for 2024, I have already travelled to Goulburn, NSW to compete in the Canberra International Open, and to Sydney, NSW for the Sydney International Open.
Every competition I attend affords me the opportunity to gain further experience and allows me to put my learning & training into practice - - all of which I bring with me as I aspire towards selection on the Australian Judo team.
But it is a long way to travel from my home town of Cairns in Far North Queensland, so any contribution to assist me with travelling expenses so that I can continue to work towards achieving my dream of representing Australia at the Olympics will be greatly appreciated! Thank you
