Benjamin and Alondra's home has burned down
Donation protected
My name is Mark Bettis, and I work for San Mateo County Parks as Harbormaster at Coyote Point Marina.
My 24 year old son Benjamin and his girlfriend Alondra moved in to their first home together in Bonny Doon , CA two weeks ago. They rented a room in a large house with several roommates. They and their dog, Honey, were just getting used to living together in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains.
When the fire got close they had to evacuate their home, and were able to leave safely with their computers and Honey. Two days later on Friday August 21 they found out that their home had been completely destroyed by the CZU Lightning Complex fire.
They have lost all of their furniture, kitchen and household items, most of their clothing and other personal items. They are staying with a friend, but do not know where they are going to live now.
Benjamin is working part time as a delivery person, and Alondra works at a mobile phone store. They have no savings, and all of their cash went to the first and last months rent and deposit on the rental house. They have no insurance.
Benjamin and Alondra will use any donations raised to pay for housing and to replace their clothing and furniture. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
